BEIRUT, November 22. /TASS/. Several Israeli tanks have blocked the highway linking the cities of Marjayoun and Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, the Al Jadeed television channel reported.

According to the TV channel, the tanks are moving toward the Litani River.

Earlier, an airstrike was delivered near the Khardali bridge across the Litani River, damaging the southern highway.

According to the TV channel, Israeli mechanized units have entered the Christian city of Deir Mimas located on the Marjayoun-Nabatieh highway and set up a checkpoint. Earthworks have been erected near the Israeli positions along the Kfar Kila-Deir Siriane section.

The situation at the eastern frontline section changed after Israeli troops blocked the border city of the Al-Khiyam, a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Lebanon. According to the Janoubia news portal, Shiite fighters in the city are offering fierce resistance, firing guided missiles at Israeli tanks. Four tanks were reportedly hit on Thursday.

The Israeli army has improved its positions in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon after it took control of the Tell Khamamis heights. Israeli armed vehicles have reportedly entered the village of Ibl al-Saki, where they destroyed several houses of Hezbollah fighters.

In the western section of the frontline, Israeli troops seized control of the al-Bayada hill to be able to keep under fire Tyre environs and a highway in Nakuru.
