It is time for Ukraine to consider what territorial and other concessions it should make in order to finally conclude a peace agreement with Russia, given the desperate situation of the Ukrainian armed forces in the special military operation zone, Foreign Policy said.

According to the magazine, it is "time for Ukraine to make the best peace it can" if it wants to preserve its sovereignty. There is "little serious debate that Ukraine will need to exchange territory for peace," the magazine pointed out. According to its estimates, Kiev will also have to consider what else it will have to sacrifice to end the conflict.

Foreign Policy pointed out that Western officials should stop insisting in public speeches on the need to achieve a strategic defeat for Russia so as not to hinder diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously listed the conditions for resolving the conflict, including the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass and Novorossiya, Kiev's refusal to join NATO, the lifting of all Western sanctions against Russia, and the establishment of Ukraine's non-aligned and nuclear-free status.
