Trump nominates Pam Bondi for US attorney general
Former Florida attorney general is smart and tough, and she "will do a terrific job as Attorney General," US president-elect said
NEW YORK, November 22. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump nominated former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi to the post of the US attorney general after his nominee Matt Gaetz announced he was withdrawing from consideration.
"Pam will refocus the DOJ [Department of Justice] to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!"
Gaetz, who was named Trump’s pick for attorney general last week, had to withdraw his name from consideration after intense scrutiny over a House Ethics Committee investigation. According to NBC, he was under an ethics probe on suspicion of sexual misconduct, illicit drug use and bribery. Gaetz has denied all wrongdoing.
