Weapons supplied to Ukraine cannot reach Russian territory, Spanish defense minister says

MADRID, November 21. /TASS/. Military equipment that Spain supplies to Ukraine cannot be used to attack Russia because it lacks the necessary features, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles stated.
"The US administration of [US President Joe] Biden has made a decision on the use of long-range missiles," she said at the parliamentary defense commission, adding that "Spain's situation is somewhat different from that of the United States" because the kingdom delivers a different kind of weaponry to Ukraine. The missiles from Spain’s deliveries "will not be able" to reach Russian territory, Robles emphasized.
The New York Times reported on November 17 that US President Joe Biden had authorized the use of US-supplied ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles for strikes inside Russia. US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian Nichols later confirmed this information. Top EU diplomat Josep Borrell stated that some EU countries had also permitted the use of their weapons for strikes up to 300 kilometers deep into Russia.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov reminded that Moscow's position on strikes by US missiles deep inside Russian territory was clearly outlined by Russian President Vladimir Putin in September. Peskov emphasized that this decision marks a "qualitatively new round" of tensions.
