Jeremy Corbyn called for de-escalation of the situationin Ukraine and the search for a diplomatic solution to achieve peace

LONDON, November 21. /TASS/. Jeremy Corbyn, former leader of the ruling British Labor Party, has demanded that Prime Minister Keir Starmer immediately clarify the situation around UK Storm Shadow missiles. Corbyn, who led the party in 2015-2020 and left its ranks in May this year, believes that the prime minister is obliged to inform members of parliament whether British long-range weapons were used for strikes deep into Russian territory.

"The Prime Minister should make a statement to Parliament, immediately, to confirm whether UK missiles have been fired into Russia. He must tell the British public if this means we are now at war with a nuclear power, what risk this poses to people in Britain, and why this action was taken without any approval from Parliament," Corbyn wrote on X social network.

Stressing that he has consistently condemned Russia's actions in launching the special military operation in Ukraine, Corbyn called for de-escalation of the situation and the search for a diplomatic solution to achieve peace.

"As we edge closer and closer to catastrophe, we should be doing everything in our power to bring about de-escalation and peace. Instead, our political leaders have added fuel to the fire and gambled with people’s lives for political gain. Presidents and Prime Ministers must know that in the event of nuclear war, nobody wins," Corbyn wrote.

On Wednesday, Bloomberg, and then a number of British media outlets, reported citing their own sources, the first instance of British Storm Shadow missiles being used to strike deep into Russian territory. Starmer's office at 10 Downing Street refused to confirm or deny this information "for operational reasons.".
