LONDON, November 19. /TASS/. Lebanon and the Shiite Hezbollah group have accepted the US-proposed draft ceasefire agreement with Israel, offering some comments on its content, Ali Hassan Khalil, an aide to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, told Reuters.
Lebanon submitted its written response to US Ambassador to Beirut, Lisa Johnson, on Monday, according to the official. He indicated that the next steps depend entirely on Israel, describing the ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire as the most significant and serious to date.
The remarks were made in a favorable tone, Khalil emphasized, giving no additional details.
Earlier, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated that the country’s authorities will now discuss the terms of the agreement with US emissary Amos Hochstein, who is expected to visit Beirut soon.
