Trump likely to revoke Biden's authorization to attack deep into Russia — magazine
"Nevertheless, there is every possibility Trump will repeal the decision - indeed, his camp has already accused Biden of trying to 'escalate' the conflict", Lisa Haseldine pointed out
LONDON, November 18. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump is likely to revoke Joe Biden's authorization to allow Kiev to use American ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles ATACMS to attack deep into Russia, Lisa Haseldine, assistant online editor of The Spectator, wrote in an article.
Biden gave Kiev permission to use these weapons just two months before Trump's inauguration, she emphasized. At the same time, US officials believe that the possibility of using the missiles to strike Russian territory is unlikely to significantly change the course of the conflict, the article said. "Nevertheless, there is every possibility Trump will repeal the decision - indeed, his camp has already accused Biden of trying to 'escalate' the conflict", Haseldine pointed out.
On November 17, The New York Times reported, citing sources, that Biden had authorized strikes from Ukrainian territory deep into Russia using ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles. In turn, Le Figaro sources claimed that France and the UK had authorized strikes with SCALP and Storm Shadow tactical missiles. The article was later retracted from the newspaper's website without explanation. There has been no official confirmation of this information from Washington, Paris, or London.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that Moscow's position on the Ukrainian strikes by US missiles deep into Russian territory was clearly and unambiguously formulated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in September. According to him, this decision means a "qualitatively new round of escalation of tensions."
