Peter Szijjarto pointed out that "the supporters of war in Washington and Brussels have launched a final, desperate attack on the new reality"

BUDAPEST, November 18. /TASS/. Those in the US and the EU who support the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine are ready to expand it to a global scale, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.

"Apparently, in their desperation, the supporters of war won’t even hesitate to do the worst thing, that is, expand the war in Ukraine to a global scale," he wrote on Facebook (prohibited in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which is designated as extremist) before departing for Brussels to take part in an EU foreign ministers meeting.

However, Szijjarto did not put it straight that the US, the UK and France had allowed Ukraine to use their long-range weapons to carry out attacks inside Russia. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry has not yet responded to a TASS request to comment on the move by the leading Western countries.

Meanwhile, Szijjarto pointed out that "the supporters of war in Washington and Brussels have launched a final, desperate attack on the new reality." The top Hungarian diplomat believes that the new reality has been created by election wins by right-wing parties in a number of European Union countries and Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election.

However, "the pro-war politicians who have been voted out of power are reluctant to acknowledge the will of the people both in Washington and Brussels," Szijjarto noted, adding: "This is not only undemocratic but also extremely dangerous."

"Today, the foreign ministers of EU countries will hold their first meeting after Donald Trump’s victory. This is going to be a tough battle because escalation attempts need to be stopped in Brussels," the minister added.
