TBILISI, November 16. /TASS/. Law enforcers detained several protesters who tried to block the road near the Central Election Commission building in Tbilisi, a TASS correspondent reports.

The rally broke out near the CEC building on Saturday morning, when the Central Election Commission was accepting the final protocol of the parliamentary elections. Sometime after the protocol was adopted, the protesters moved to the adjacent Agmashenebeli Alley, where they tried to block the roadway.

Security forces drove the protesters away, cleared the road and detained several people. Police lined up along the road.

Georgian CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili earlier on Saturday signed the final protocol of the parliamentary elections held on October 26. Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party has won the parliamentary elections with 53.93% of the vote and received 89 mandates out of 150. Apart from Georgian Dream, four opposition parties broke the 5% threshold. Coalition for Change gained 11.03% and 19 mandates, Unity — National Movement — 10.17% and 16 mandates, Strong Georgia — 8.81% and 14 mandates and Gakharia for Georgia — 7.78% and 12 mandates.

All opposition parties that passed into parliament refused to recognize the election results as they considered them rigged. Opposition leaders have been holding rallies since November 4.
