NEW YORK, November 16. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump announced that he had nominated Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota, to become the next US Secretary of the Interior and to head the newly-formed National Energy Council.

"I’m thrilled to announce that Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota, will be joining my Administration as both the Secretary of the Interior and as a Chairman of the newly formed, and very important, National Energy Council," Trump said on his Truth Social website.

The president-elect said the National Energy Council would bring together all departments and agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation and transportation of all types of energy in the US.

"The Council will oversee the path to US energy dominance by <…> enhancing private sector investments across all sectors of the economy and by focusing on innovation," Trump added.
