SUKHUM, November 15. /TASS/. The opposition and non-governmental organizations in Abkhazia have set up a coordination council for talks with the authorities, according to a statement by opposition representatives on a Telegram channel.

"The united opposition and non-governmental organizations have created a coordination council with the aim to overcome the political crisis. Parliament Speaker Lasha Ashuba has returned from a meeting with President Aslan Bzhania. At the moment negotiations with representatives of the coordination council are underway," the statement reads.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee for the protection of sovereignty, Levan Mikaa, said that the Abkhazian authorities and the opposition entered into negotiations after the riots that led to the seizure of a compound of government buildings by demonstrators. The protesters are demanding the resignation of President Aslan Bzhania.

On November 15, the parliament of Abkhazia was to consider the ratification of the agreement with Russia on the implementation of investment projects by Russian legal entities. The session was canceled because the legislators failed to approve its agenda. The opposition disagreed and demanded that the parliament be reconvened to remove the question from the agenda altogether.

Several hundred people gathered in front of the parliament building to demonstrate. They managed to surround the entire compound of government buildings and storm it. Abkhazia's Security Council described the situation as strained.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia was not interfering in the internal processes in Abkhazia and expected that the situation would be resolved exclusively by peaceful political means. The Foreign Ministry recommended Russians to refrain from traveling to Abkhazia.
