Hundreds of people participate in protest rally near Abkhazian parliament

SUKHUM, November 15. /TASS/. Several hundred people are taking part in a protest rally against the ratification of an agreement with Russia on investment projects in Abkhazia organized by the opposition near the republic’s parliament, a TASS correspondent reported.
The rally’s organizers told TASS that, according to their estimates, about 2,500 people are participating. Members of the opposition broke onto the parliament’s premises, having rammed a metal fence with a motor vehicle. Abkhazia’s law enforcement agencies are taking measures on counteracting illegal actions.
On Friday, Abkhazia’s parliament was going to consider the issue of ratifying an agreement with Russia on implementing investment projects in the republic. The opposition called for a protest rally and urged residents to participate because it considers the agreement harmful for the country’s economic sovereignty. Law enforcement agencies were put on high alert.
The parliamentary session was canceled because delegates were unable to approve its agenda.
