Colombia would like to join BRICS — foreign minister
The top Colombian diplomat went on to say that his country has been following the BRICS expansion and activities carefully
MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Colombia is interested in joining the BRICS group of nations, the country’s Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo has told Russia’s Izvestia daily.
"Yes, certainly, Colombia is looking at it with interest," he said.
The top Colombian diplomat went on to say that his country has been following the BRICS expansion and activities carefully.
"The group offers an alternative point of view, and this is something worth looking at. We are also searching for access to funds that would help our country improve," Murillo added. "[Colombian Minister of Finance and Public Credit] Ricardo Bonilla has already met with President of the BRICS New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, and lots of negotiations are under way."
