Swedish minister in charge of gender equality suffers from bananaphobia
The phobia is so strong that special precautions need to be taken before her meetings
STOCKHOLM, November 14. /TASS/. Paulina Brandberg, the minister for gender equality and labor in Sweden, has a peculiar phobia: she is afraid of bananas, Swiss daily Aftonbladet reported on Thursday.
Several years ago, Brandberg revealed her fear to the world on social network X. The phobia is so strong that special precautions need to be taken before her meetings. For example, prior to her meeting with Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlen, an email was sent out stating "there should be no trace of bananas in the room."
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said earlier in an interview with the TT news agency that the minister's bananaphobia does not affect the government's operation in any way. "I have nothing but respect for people who have different phobias," the 60-year-old Swedish premier said.
In a letter for Sweden’s daily Expressen, the 41-year-old Brandberg said she sees a therapist for her unusual phobia.
