European Commission gives ‘positive assessment’ for payment of 4.1 bln euros to Kiev
The commission concluded that Ukraine had satisfactorily fulfilled the nine agreed reform indicators for this payment
BRUSSELS, November 14. /TASS/. The European Commission has given "a positive assessment" for the second regular payment of 4.1 bln euros to Kiev under the Ukraine Facility; the decision will now have to be adopted by the Council of the EU, the commission said in a statement.
"The commission has concluded that Ukraine has satisfactorily fulfilled the nine agreed reform indicators for this payment. These reforms cover areas such as the fight against corruption, business environment, labor market, regional policy, energy market and environmental protection," the statement reads.
"The transfer to Ukraine will take place following the adoption of this decision by the Council [of the EU], and the adoption of a payment decision by the commission," the document adds.
The European Commission pointed out that once adopted by the council, the decision would bring the total funds disbursed in 2024 in support of the Ukraine Plan to 16.1 bln euros.
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the X social media platform that the commission had greenlighted a new four-billion-euro payment from the Ukraine Facility.
The European Union's Ukraine Facility is a 50-bln-euro financial assistance program established in late 2023 for the period of 2024-2027.
