Not all Republicans support Trump in refusing further military aid to Kiev — newspaper
According to the news outlet, Congressman Mike Waltz, who is being considered by Trump for the post of national security adviser, is in favor of lifting restrictions on the use of Western long-range missiles to attack Russia
WASHINGTON, November 13. /TASS/. Many Republicans in the US Congress do not share President-elect Donald Trump's skepticism about support for Ukraine and consider it necessary to continue financing Kiev's military plans, The Washington Post reported.
According to the newspaper, Congressman Mike Waltz, who is being considered by Trump for the post of national security adviser, is in favor of lifting restrictions on the use of Western long-range missiles to attack Russia. Waltz also noted that Washington should increase its military support for the Kiev regime if the Russian authorities refuse to hold talks on the Ukrainian settlement on US terms.
Earlier, Waltz criticized outgoing US President Joe Biden for modest efforts to close loopholes that allow Russia to export its oil and gas to international markets. According to Politico, Waltz's appointment to the new administration signals Washington's readiness to step up measures against Russian energy resources.
The Washington Post also said that according to its assessments, Trump has made loyalty a key condition for receiving a post in his administration. That is why all those who previously supported the continuation of Ukraine's financing may change their position. At the same time, most Republicans share Trump's view on the necessity of strengthening the struggle with the growing global influence of China, the newspaper added.
