Ukraine to become first victim of next Trump administration — Iranian newspaper
Trump’s desire to reduce inflation, boost US industries and cut government spending, especially in terms of US overseas projects, may push Washington "to drop its expensive foreign policy," the newspaper notes
DUBAI, November 12. /TASS/. Abandoning funding for Kiev’s military plans may turn out to be the first serious foreign policy move by US President-elect Donald Trump after he returns to the White House in January 2025, Iran’s Vatan-e Emrooz newspaper writes.
According to the paper, this decision is going to make Ukraine "the first victim" of the next US administration. This is already causing concern to Ukrainian politicians and the United States’ European allies, who are now mulling ways to enhance their independence from Washington.
Trump’s desire to reduce inflation, boost US industries and cut government spending, especially in terms of US overseas projects, may push Washington "to drop its expensive foreign policy," the newspaper notes.
According to its estimates, a return to the trade war with China will be one of the major challenges facing the new US administration, which can escalate confrontation between Beijing and Washington in various parts of the world. Trump and his team will also have to deal with persistent trends such as the world’s movement towards multipolarity and the emergence of numerous regional alliances, the newspaper points out.
Trump said on many occasions during his election campaign that he planned to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump defeated current US Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s contender, in the November 5 presidential election. The Republican Party took control of the Senate and is also expected to secure a majority in the House of Representatives. Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20, 2025.
