Russia keeps building defense capacity despite conflict in Ukraine — Polish general
According to Wieslaw Kukula, if the conflict in Ukraine ends soon, Russia will be able to build up its defense capacity to the point that it could take on all of NATO
MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Russia’s defense industry is strong enough to cover the needs of the Russian army in the Ukraine conflict and much, much more, General Wieslaw Kukula, chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, said.
"Russia has demographic potential, a strong resource base, and, most importantly, an effective defense industry, which is not only [meeting the needs] related to the war but also helps boost its defense capacity," Kukula pointed out in an interview with the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
According to him, if the conflict in Ukraine ends soon, Russia will be able to build up its defense capacity to the point that it could take on all of NATO.
On November 5, Carsten Breuer, inspector general of the Bundeswehr (German army), admitted in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper that Russia produced twice as many tanks per year as Europe’s five largest NATO countries combined. He noted that Russia had succeeded in re-orienting its economy to meet military needs.
