Arab League, OIC countries condemn Israel's ‘deliberate attacks’ on UN forces in Lebanon

Member states called for immediate humanitarian aid to the government of the country

DOHA, November 12. /TASS/. Member states of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Israel’s attacks on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), according to the final declaration of these organization’s extraordinary summit in Riyadh.

"To unequivocally condemn the deliberate attacks on UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon by Israel, which are direct violations of the UN Charter, and to demand the United Nations Security Council to hold Israel accountable for ensuring the safety and security of UN peacekeepers operating under the banner of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)," the declaration reads.

Regarding the situation in Lebanon under the continuing Israeli attacks, the Arab League and OIC countries called for immediate humanitarian aid to the government of the country, including to resolve the crisis related to the large number of displaced people. They also stressed the need for reforms in Lebanon to enable friendly countries to assist Beirut in resolving the crisis.
