Kiev receives no notification about Trump's alleged conversation with Putin — MFA
Earlier, The Washington Post, citing sources, claimed that Trump had already held a phone conversation with Putin
MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has denied reports by The Washington Post (WP) that Kiev had been informed in advance about the alleged phone conversation between US President-elect Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Georgy Tykhiy told Reuters.
"Reports that the Ukrainian side was informed in advance of the alleged call are false. Subsequently, Ukraine could not have endorsed or opposed the call," the spokesman assured.
Earlier, The Washington Post, citing sources, claimed that Trump had already held a phone conversation with Putin. However, neither Washington nor Moscow has officially confirmed the report.
According to the newspaper, Trump and Putin discussed the situation in Ukraine. They addressed the goal of establishing peace on the European continent, with Trump expressing interest in follow-up conversations to discuss "the resolution of Ukraine’s war soon," the publication reported.
The newspaper added that the Ukrainian government was informed about the call and did not object to it. Kiev officials had long understood that Trump would discuss a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian conflict with Putin, the sources cited by the newspaper said.
