Second Russia-Africa ministerial conference to be held in 2025 — Lavrov

According to the top Russia diplomat, the leaders of Russia and African countries made a decision to organize annual ministerial sessions in 2023

SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, November 10. /TASS/. The second Russia-Africa partnership forum’s ministerial conference will be held in 2025, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the closing ceremony of the first Russia-Africa ministerial meeting.

"The conference (the second Russia-Africa partnership ministerial conference - TASS) is to be held next year," he said. "We will be glad to come to any place to meet with our African friends."

According to the top Russia diplomat, the leaders of Russia and African countries made a decision to organize annual ministerial sessions in 2023. "Along with foreign ministers, other members of our governments, our business are also working. Since the foreign ministers in all countries are responsible for the coordination of processes linked with relations with other countries and organizations, our task is to avoid failures, slowdowns and, on the contrary, to encourage contacts in all spheres," Lavrov said.

He noted that the conference has yielded a joint statement and a number of concrete agreements. "I think we have worked quite successfully. We have adopted documents, and out joint statement, which contains generalized assessments of the situation in the world, generalized assessments of the state of things in our partnership, both in the economic, social, investment, security spheres, in the fight against terrorism and other new challenges and, naturally, in the cultural, educational, and humanitarian areas," he said. "These assessments are accompanied by concrete agreements in each of these areas, roadmaps that will be promoted in the near future, including are part of preparations for the second such event, the second Russia-Africa partnership ministerial conference."

The first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa partnership forum was held in the Sirius Federal Territory on November 9 and 10. Around 1,500 delegates, including 45 ministers from African countries, took part.
