DOHA, November 9. /TASS/. Qatar has decided to suspend mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip due to the lack of desire of the parties to the conflict to end it, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari said.

"Qatar's efforts as a mediator between Hamas and Israel are currently on hold," the diplomat said in a statement on his X page. According to him, "ten days ago, during the latest attempts to reach an agreement, Qatar informed the negotiating parties that it would suspend its efforts as a mediator between Hamas and Israel if an agreement was not reached during that round [of consultations], and would resume its efforts with the partners if they were serious about ending this brutal war."

The spokesman emphasized that if Hamas and Israel seek to end the conflict, Doha will be among the first to "exert all efforts to end the war and release hostages and [Palestinian] prisoners." "Since the collapse of the first ceasefire and the agreement on the exchange of women and children, we have witnessed manipulation, especially in terms of reneging on the commitments agreed in the mediation and using the ongoing negotiations to justify the continuation of the war for political purposes," he added.
