MADRID, November 8. /TASS/. The number of fatalities from floods in Spain has risen to 223, with the vast majority of casualties reported in the autonomous community of Valencia in the east of the country, Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente said on his X social media account.
"223 dead," he wrote, clarifying that 215 casualties were reported in Valencia, seven in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, and one in Andalusia. As many as 78 people are missing. Additionally, the head of the agency noted that 48 victims of the disaster have not yet been identified.
Earlier, it was reported that 219 people had died and 93 were missing.
On October 29, Spain's State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) issued a warning about adverse weather conditions in several regions of the country due to heavy rains. The level of the warning in the south and east of the kingdom was raised to the highest.
