Astana format meeting scheduled for November 11-12 in Kazakhstan — foreign ministry

ASTANA, November 8. /TASS/. The next meeting on Syria in the Astana format will take place in the Kazakh capital on November 11-12, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
According to the ministry, bilateral and trilateral consultations between the delegations will take place on the first day, continuing the following day. On November 12, a plenary session and a final press conference will be held.
"The agenda of the meeting includes the following issues: the development of the regional situation around Syria; efforts for a comprehensive settlement; the situation "on the ground" in Syria; confidence-building measures, including the release of hostages and the search for missing persons," the statement says.
The armed conflict in Syria has been ongoing since 2011. Since 2017, negotiations known as the Astana format have been held in Astana, involving Russia, Iran, and Turkey as guarantor countries of the Syrian crisis settlement process, as well as representatives of the Syrian government and opposition, the UN, and observer countries - Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq. This year's meeting will be the 22nd in the series.
In October, Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and African Countries and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, announced that a new meeting should take place before the year-end.
