Edouard Husson also believes that "Trump’s election will shake up the EU"

PARIS, November 8. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump is open to constructive dialogue on the situation in Ukraine, but talks with him should not be expected to be easy, Edouard Husson, a professor at Cergy Paris University and founder of the Institut Brennus research association, told TASS.

"Negotiations may turn out to be more difficult and take longer than expected. However, the advantage is that Trump is a reliable partner capable of making and implementing agreements, which is rare for the US," the expert noted.

Husson also believes that "Trump’s election will shake up the EU." "During his first presidential term, Trump played an important role in the United Kingdom’s successful withdrawal from the EU. His second term will prove to be a serious shake-up for the European Union. The process has already begun in Germany, where the ruling coalition has collapsed, which will definitely impact the entire European Union," he noted.

According to the expert, outgoing US President Joe Biden "was no good for Europe." "He forced the European Union to cut off ties with Russia," Husson explained, adding: "Trump’s return will now make everyone adapt.

Roosevelt’s legacy

Husson believes that Trump may actually be compared to US President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945). "Trump’s historical role is to find a balance between US involvement in global politics and the revival of society and key industries," the analyst maintained. "If he succeeds in doing so, he will become the Roosevelt of 21st-century America," Husson added.

The United States held its presidential election on November 5. The official results haven’t been announced yet, but Trump has already received about 300 electoral votes, while a candidate needs 270 votes to win. Trump has already declared himself the 47th US president. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris conceded defeat in the presidential race.
