Diplomatic deal between US, Iran seen likely under Trump — WSJ

NEW YORK, November 8. /TASS/. Washington and Tehran could eventually conclude a diplomatic deal during Donald Trump’s second tenure as US president, despite "the mutual hostility," The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported.
According to the US newspaper, some officials who worked for Trump in his first term, do not rule out such a deal between the two countries. Michael Mulroy, a former top Pentagon official, said Trump likes to make deals, but only if "it’s his deal."
Meanwhile, officials told The Wall Street Journal, the president-elect plans to drastically increase the sanctions pressure on Iran and stifle its oil trade. Chinese ports that receive Iranian crude could also be targeted. "I think you are going to see the sanctions go back on, you are going to see much more, both diplomatically and financially, they are trying to isolate Iran," a former White House official told the WSJ.
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran was planning to expand partnership with its neighbors and other Islamic countries and that Tehran was indifferent to the result of the US election. Iran considers Russia to be among its neighbors.
Officially, the results of the November 5 presidential election have not yet been announced, but, according to the US media, Republican Trump scored about 300 electoral votes, thus exceeding by far the necessary minimum of 270. He himself has already declared himself the 47th president of the United States. His rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, formally conceded the election to Trump and congratulated him on his victory.
