DOHA, November 7. /TASS/. Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election will not impact the position of the Yemen-based Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, its leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi said.

"The outcome of the US election will not impact our principled position and our enemies have no choice but to end the blockade and aggression against Gaza and stop the aggression against Lebanon," he said in an address broadcast by the rebel-owned Al Masirah TV channel.

"Some Arab regimes and their voices are talking about Trump in a bid to intimidate our people. In Yemen, we have experience with Trump and the entire region. The result was that he failed to divide the [resistance] fronts in Yemen and did not achieve success in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Iraq," the Houthi leader noted.

"Trump has said he will end wars. If he was being honest, then he will put an end to the aggression in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon that involves America," al-Houthi went on to say. He pointed out that neither Trump nor incumbent US President Joe Biden would be able to make the Houthis abandon their support for the Palestinian people.

Following the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Ansar Allah movement said it would strike Israeli territory and prevent ships associated with Israel from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave was halted. The Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since last November.

In response to the Houthis’ actions, the US authorities announced the establishment of an international coalition and the launch of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protection of ships in the Red Sea. Afterwards, the US and the UK started to carry out regular strikes on Houthi military facilities in Yemen.
