"China and Russia are two independent countries, whose relations have clear signs of complementarity and mutual support," Gao Jian noted

SHANGHAI, November 7. /TASS/. The new Trump Administration will not be able to negatively affect Sino-Russian relations, which currently play a crucial role in building the multipolar world order and geopolitical stability in Eurasia, according to Gao Jian, senior researcher at the Shanghai International Studies University.

"It should be emphasized that the bilateral relations between China and Russia are characterized by such principles as non-alignment, non-confrontation, and not aiming against third parties, and they also have a strong internal logic. I do not think that the future Trump Administration will negatively affect the development of Sino-Russian relations," the expert told TASS.

"China and Russia are two independent countries, whose relations have clear signs of complementarity and mutual support. The development of relations between Russia and China not only meets their own national interests but also contributes to the establishment of a stable geopolitical structure in Eurasia, as well as the establishment of the multipolar global political model," he added.

Gao Jian stated that the West does not want to see the rapprochement between China and Russia.

"They believe that the rapprochement of Russia and China is merely a tactical and strategic choice and a forced step. There is an opinion that Russia is a typical pro-Western country deep inside its ideology, and it desires to be accepted and recognized by Western European civilization. I believe that this viewpoint lacks the basic understanding of the current trend of development in international politics, and this viewpoint has always remained in the ideological structure of the centralism of Western civilization," the expert believes.

According to Gao Jian, the world is experiencing fundamental structural changes that have not happened in the past 100 years, and both China and Russia understand this.

"Both China and Russia have unique historic and cultural traditions. As independent countries, we have to work together in order to build a more democratic international order," the expert said.
