If Trump stops wars, he will deserve Nobel Prize, says Lukashenko
At the same time, according to the Belarusian leader, not everything will depend on the US president-elect
MINSK, November 7. /TASS/. If US President-elect Donald Trump copes with his pledge to stop war after returning to the White House, he should be nominated for the Nobel Prize, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has said.
He recalled that Trump during the election campaign promised, among other things, to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
"If he does, we will nominate him for the Nobel Prize," the BelTA news agency quotes Lukashenko as saying.
At the same time, according to Lukashenko, not everything will depend on the US president-elect. For the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine at least the participation of the two parties to the conflict will be necessary, says the Belarusian leader.
"He (Trump - TASS) will try to end the war in Ukraine, but this is not a unilateral process. It has to be negotiated, and possibly not only with Russia. It concerns many countries," Lukashenko noted.
Trump made Ukraine one of the focal points of his election campaign. He announced plans for settling the situation in case of his victory even before his inauguration in January 2025. After the early returns were announced, Trump addressed his supporters with a victory speech to declare his intention to "stop all wars." He did not put forward any specific initiatives, though.
