WASHINGTON, November 6. /TASS/. US House Speaker Mike Johnson (Republican-Louisiana) has announced that Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump became the elected head of state.
"The American people have spoken, and President Trump and Senator JD Vance are going to the White House. We are ready to get to work for the American people," he wrote on his page on X.
In the election, the US president, one-third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives, and governors in 11 states and 2 territories are elected.
The Democratic Party was initially expected to be represented by incumbent President Joe Biden. However, following a poor performance in the June debate with Trump, Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who was later formally nominated as the party’s presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
