WASHINGTON, November 6. /TASS/. Republicans will win at least 50 seats in the US Senate in the November 5 election, Fox News reports.

According to the broadcaster, Democrats have secured 42 seats in the upper chamber.

Republicans currently hold 49 senate seats, while Democrats, together with independent candidates, have 51. US citizens are electing 34 senators out of 100 to the Senate in the November 5 vote.

In order to secure a majority in the Senate, Republicans need at least one additional seat. This will be enough if the Republican Party’s candidate wins the presidency because the country’s vice president also has the right to vote in the Senate.

The 2024 race for the White House pits incumbent Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris against former Republican President Donald Trump.
