WASHINGTON, November 6. /TASS/. US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is unsurprisingly in the lead in the state of Mississippi, the Axios news website reports, along with a number of outer media outlets, including the Washington Post, the New York Times and Fox News.
In Mississippi, six electoral votes are at stake, while a candidate needs 270 votes to win the presidency.
Republican candidates have been winning the state since 1980. In the 2020 election, Trump received 57.6% of the vote there, while Democratic contender Joe Biden gained 41.1%.
The 2024 United States elections are taking place on November 5. Nationwide, American citizens are electing the President and Vice President of the United States, all representatives to the House and one-third of the senators, as well as governors of 11 states and two US territories. The race for the White House pits incumbent Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris against former Republican President Donald Trump.
