NEW YORK, October 21. /TASS/. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit, Reuters reported.

According to the news agency, the purpose of the Pentagon chief's visit is to demonstrate support for Ukraine ahead of the US elections.

CNN, in turn, said that Austin will meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to discuss "Ukraine's weapons needs."
