UN Security Council allowed Israel to violate international law — Iranian mission
"Regrettably, the United Nations Security Council has failed in its duty to maintain international peace and security," the letter of the Iranian mission to the UN says
UNITED NATIONS, April 14. /TASS/. The UN Security Council permitted Israel to violate principles of the International law, the Iranian mission to the UN said in a letter to the UN secretary-general and the Security Council president.
"Regrettably, the United Nations Security Council has failed in its duty to maintain international peace and security, allowing the Israeli regime to transgress red lines and violate the fundamental principles of international law," the letter says. "Such violations have exacerbated tensions in the region and threatened regional and international peace and security."
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported late on Saturday that Iran had launched drones from its territory towards Israel. The Israeli military remained vigilant and tracked all targets approaching the country, the press service said. Later, missiles were also fired by Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an elite force within the Iranian Armed Forces, later confirmed that a massive drone and missile attack on Israel was under way. The attack came in retaliation for the deadly Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1.
