Beijing to respond to US restrictions against six Chinese companies — authorities
Under the umbrella of national security, Washington "randomly applies unilateral sanctions and exercises 'long-arm jurisdiction,'" the spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce noted
BEIJING, April 11. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities will take necessary measures following the US putting six of Beijing’s national companies on its list of organizations that are subject to export restrictions, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce He Yadong said.
"The Chinese side has taken note of the situation: over a certain period of time the American side has been putting Chinese companies one after another on the list of subjects of export control due to the so-called issues concerning Russia and the army," he told a weekly briefing. "China will take all necessary measures to protect the legal and legitimate interests of its entities," the official added.
Under the umbrella of national security, Washington "randomly applies unilateral sanctions and exercises 'long-arm jurisdiction,'" he noted, adding that such actions by the US represent "typical economic coercion and unilateral bullying."
"China strongly condemns this. The United States should immediately change its ways and stop putting unfounded pressure on Chinese enterprises," the spokesman concluded.
Earlier, the US Department of Commerce passed export restrictions against three Russian companies, six Chinese firms and two entities from the United Arab Emirates. According to the US government, those organizations act against the interests of national security and foreign policy of the United States.
