Mexico does not welcome participation of its citizens in military conflicts

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The Mexican authorities do not welcome the participation of its citizens in armed conflicts, the country’s ambassador to Russia, Eduardo Villegas Megias, told TASS, while commenting on a statement by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) on the recruitment of Mexicans for the Ukrainian army.
"The Mexican government does not encourage the participation of its citizens in armed conflicts in the world," the ambassador said in response to a request for a comment on the SVR’s statement. He also emphasized that Mexico's representatives in Washington had no official confirmation.
"As far as I know, there is no confirmation from the Mexican officials based in Washington," he pointed out.
The ambassador also emphasized that when it comes to violations of the law these investigations are conducted in a clandestine manner in order to rule out any interference.
The SVR’s press bureau told TASS earlier that US PMCs, with the participation of the authorities, were recruiting members of Mexican and Colombian drug cartels in US prisons to be sent to Ukraine.
