BRUSSELS, April 9. /TASS/. The use of drones to deliver strikes on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) must stop because it increases the risk of a "dangerous nuclear accident," EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell wrote on the X social network.

He noted that such a "reckless drone attack" against the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant "increases risk of dangerous nuclear accident. Such attacks must stop," Borrell said, without specifying that the strikes were delivered by the Kiev regime. That said, the top EU diplomat urged Russia to withdraw its forces from the nuclear facility.

Borrell expressed full support for Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

On April 7, the Ukrainian military conducted three attacks on the ZNPP, using drones. First, the cargo port and an area adjacent to the canteen on the premises of the nuclear facility were attacked, with three employees being wounded. Another drone hit the sixth power unit of the ZNPP. On April 8, another Ukrainian kamikaze drone was downed over the nuke plant, and its debris fell on the roof of the same power unit.

On April 7, the IAEA issued a statement from Grossi on the X social media platform, slamming the drone attack on the ZNPP as "reckless" and calling on those responsible for military decisions to refrain from actions violating the basic principles of nuclear security.
