WASHINGTON, April 9. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces are facing bleak prospects due to the lack of US aid to Kiev and Russian successes, the Washington Post said.

"After <…> an attempt to mount a counteroffensive last year, the country’s military outlook has turned bleak. Many factors have conspired against Ukraine," the newspaper said.

According to the Washington Post, one of the biggest issues is tensions in the US Congress over news aid packages to Kiev. The aid has been delayed "for six months, for no good reason," the newspaper pointed out.

In addition, Kiev sees a problem in the fact that "Russia is now adapting in ways that are difficult for Ukraine to defend against." Moscow is now using glide bombs that fly "out of the range of Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems."

The newspaper pointed out that Ukraine is "also reeling from warrior fatigue and losses," which is a problem that "cannot be resolved by money from the United States and its allies." The Washington Post, however, said that "Ukraine’s military situation isn’t entirely hopeless," but "this could be the year Russia breaks through Ukraine’s thinning lines," so the delay in the US Congress allocating aid to Kiev "cuts the chance of a positive outcome to the conflict (for Ukraine - TASS)."
