Hyped Bayraktar, Switchblade drones poorly perform in Ukraine — expert
"It is too difficult for artificial intelligence to fulfil the mission and find an unknown target located in an unknown place," Dmitry Kuzyakin pointed out
MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. The much-hyped Turkish-made Bayraktar and US-made Switchblade drones poorly perform in the zone of the Ukraine operation, CEO of the Center of Complex Unmanned Solutions (TsKBR) Dmitry Kuzyakin told TASS.
"Before the operation, everybody hyped Bayraktar, Reaper and Switchblade. There were enthusiastic articles about the miracle weapons. Time has passed and shown they do not practically work," he said.
The reasons are a high production cost and time, a small number of the drones in the zone, vulnerability of radio channels, dependence on satellite navigation, and the destruction of drones by ordinary air defense weapons.
Drones with artificial intelligence, such as Switchblade, have been engaged in Ukraine since the first days of the war. "There has been no success so far. It is too difficult for artificial intelligence to fulfil the mission and find an unknown target located in an unknown place," he said.
Russian cruise missiles, glide bombs and Geran drones are more effective in striking targets in the Ukrainian rear, he added.
