Israeli airstrike near Iranian embassy in Damasus kills six
According to the broadcaster, one of the missiles hit a villa where members of Lebanese and Palestinian organizations frequently meet
BEIRUT, April 1. /TASS/. At least six people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus, home to the Iranian embassy, the Dubai-based Al Hadath TV channel reported.
According to the broadcaster, one of the missiles hit a villa where members of Lebanese and Palestinian organizations frequently meet. The Iranian ambassador was at the embassy at the time of the attack but was not hurt, the TV channel added.
Al Hadath believes that an Iranian military officer could have been the target of the attack as advisors from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) live in the villas near the embassy.
The commander of the IRGC Quds Force’s intelligence unit, Yousef Omidzadeh, was killed in a similar attack on Damascus on January 20. The strike, which involved three aircraft, destroyed a four-story building where advisors lived.
