MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said that he plans to appoint former Secretary of the country’s National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov as ambassador to Moldova.

"Alexey Danilov will continue in the diplomatic field. And to be more precise, I have approved his candidature as our new ambassador to Moldova. He told me that this is how he sees his further work for Ukraine," he said in a video address posted on his Telegram channel.

He did not say however whether an agrement (consent to receive an ambassador) has been received from Moldova’s authorities.

Meanwhile, no presidential order to this effect have been posted on the presidential website as of yet.

On Friday, Zelensky dismissed the country’s Ambassador to Moldova Mark Shevchenko, who had represented Ukraine in Chisinau since 2019.

On Tuesday, Zelensky dismissed Danilov as secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and appointed Alexander Litvinenko, former chief of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, to succeed him.

Later, Ukrainian lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko (put on Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists) said that Danilov would be appointed ambassador to Norway or Moldova.
