Instability in Middle East rooted in Israel’s policy — Syrian foreign ministry
"Syria calls on all countries of the world to take seriously Israel’s continuing violation of the principles of international law and international humanitarian law," the ministry stressed
BEIRUT, March 29. /TASS/. Syria’s foreign ministry has strongly condemned Israel’s treacherous attack on Aleppo’s neighborhoods, which claimed the lives of civilians and soldiers.
"The non-stop aggression against Syria and barbaric attacks on residential quarters prove that Israel’s aggressive policy is the root of instability in the Middle East," the SANA news agency quoted the ministry’s statement.
The ministry noted that the air raid on Aleppo coincided with attacks by armed terrorist groups, who used drones to hit the city’s western suburbs.
"Syria calls on all countries of the world to take seriously Israel’s continuing violation of the principles of international law and international humanitarian law," the ministry stressed. "It is necessary to compel the Israeli regime and those who support it to stop committing crimes in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon."
A source in the Syrian defense ministry told SANA that Israel had hit ground targets in Aleppo shorty after midnight on Friday, killing both civilians and the military and causing material damage.
According to the Dubai-based Al Hadath television channel, Israeli warplanes attacked positions of the Syrian government army, defense enterprises, and weapons depots belonging to Shiite Hezbollah units fighting on the part of the Syrian government.
According to the television channel, 36 Syrian troops and six Shiite soldiers were killed.
