BEIJING, March 29. /TASS/. China will continue to promote peace and push forward the idea of negotiations for a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a briefing.
"China has always been committed to its role in promoting a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities and a political settlement of the current crisis. China will continue to promote peace and push forward negotiations to facilitate an early political settlement," he said.
On March 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting with China’s special envoy for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, confirmed the Russian side's openness to a negotiated settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, but ruled out Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's participation in events promoting the so-called peace formula.
