Kiev fears destabilization, puts police, military on alert
Social networks will be monitored separately for "spreading disinformation, provocations and other content aimed at destabilizing the situation in the capital"
MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Kiev's military, police and security forces will keep a closer watch on crowds and public order in the capital under a decision made at an urgent meeting of the city’s defense council, the head of the Kiev city military administration, Sergey Popko, has said.
The council does not exclude attempts by groups of saboteurs to penetrate into Kiev "to destabilize the situation in the capital" and is also concerned the Russian Armed Forces may use "weapons with the shortest time of flight to the target."
"The defense council has decided that all security and military structures of the city of Kiev, in accordance with their powers, shall pay greater attention to crowded places and ensure compliance with public safety and order in the capital. All necessary measures shall be taken to contribute to the safety of Kiev’s population," the press service of the administration quotes Popko as saying on his Telegram channel.
Social networks will be monitored separately for "spreading disinformation, provocations and other content aimed at destabilizing the situation in the capital."
The council will urgently consider the issues of future public events in Kiev. Also, in order to ensure the safety of citizens, regulatory documents will be revised, which relate to the operation of public transportation, sports, cultural, educational, medical, entertainment and other public events. In addition, the council ordered to ensure constant access of the population to shelters.
Popko urged Kiev’s residents to remain calm and not to panic, adding that the measures were preventive.
