China’s top diplomat expresses condolences over Moscow terrorist attack
Wang Yi said that China "strongly condemns terrorist attacks and firmly supports the Russian government’s efforts to safeguard its national security"
BEIJING, March 27. /TASS/. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi offered his condolences over the recent terrorist attack outside of Moscow as he left a message in the Russian embassy’s online condolence book, Xinhua reported.
"China opposes all forms of terrorism, strongly condemns terrorist attacks and firmly supports the Russian government’s efforts to safeguard its national security and stability," the news agency quoted Wang as saying.
A gang of terrorists attacked the concert venue just outside of Moscow late on March 22. At least 139 people are reported so far to have been killed in the deadly attack, with 182 others being injured. Eleven suspects in the attack have been apprehended, including all four gunmen, who were detained in the Bryansk Region, southwest of Moscow, as they were attempting to seek refuge by crossing the nearby Ukrainian border.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address, citing preliminary information, that the Ukrainian side had prepared "a window" in the border especially for the terrorists to cross undetected. He promised to identify and punish all those who were behind the attack on Crocus City Hall.
