At least 8 die, over 30 wounded as result of US strikes on Syria — defense ministry
It is reported that the attack was staged after an Iranian military-transport plane landed at the Deir ez-Zor’s airfield
BEIRUT, March 26. /TASS/. At least eight people were killed and 32 more were wounded in US airstrikes on Syria’s Deir ez-Zor governorate, Syria’s defense ministry said.
"This morning, US forces delivered airstrikes on a number of cities, villages and military facilities in the Deir ez-Zor governorate with the use of military aviation and drones," it wrote on its Facebook page (Facebook is banned in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which has been designated as extremist). "Seven servicemen and one civilian were killed, 19 servicemen and 13 civilians were wounded."
The Al Hadath television channel reported earlier that the United States had delivered strikes on the military facilities of pro-Iranian Shiite units in the Deir ez-Zor governorate. According to the television channel, at least nine Shiite fighters, including two commanders, were killed and at least 20 more were wounded.
According to the TV channel’s sources, the attack was staged after an Iranian military-transport plane landed at the Deir ez-Zor’s airfield. The plane reportedly delivered technical equipment and combat gear for Shiite units deployed in the Al-Qusur area, which was also targeted in the strikes.
