Turkey detains 147 people suspected of links to IS — interior minister

ISTANBUL, March 26. /TASS/. The Turkish police have detained 147 people suspected of links to the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia), Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.

"As part of the operation against IS, 147 people have been detained on suspicion of links to the terrorist organization," the minister wrote on his X page.

According to him, the operation was carried out simultaneously in 30 provinces of Turkey. A significant amount of IS documents and storage devices were seized.

Yerlikaya also said that from April 1, 2023, to March 25, 2024, a total of 1,329 operations against IS took place, with 2,919 people detained on suspicion of links to the terrorist organization, of whom 692 were arrested by court order.
