BRUSSELS, March 25. /TASS/. More and more people in Ukraine are pessimistic about the likelihood of Kiev's success in the conflict with Moscow, Politico reported.
According to the European edition of the newspaper, pessimism about the outcome of the conflict is growing, and a growing number of people doubt that Ukraine is capable of defeating the Russian armed forces. The surge of patriotic sentiment among Ukrainians has waned as the conflict has dragged into its third year and more Ukrainians are dying on the front lines or returning home with injuries, the newspaper said.
On March 21, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said told El Pais that Ukraine had received no direct requests from its allies to hold talks with Russia. He pointed out that Kiev believes it is impossible to end the conflict militarily. He also said that "there are many voices that mention fatigue or say that there are European leaders or citizens who are exhausted" by the conflict.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on February 27 that the Ukrainian military had lost more than 444,000 servicemen during the special military operation, and that they were losing an average of over 800 men a day since the beginning of 2024.
