French, Polish troops unable to help Kiev defeat Russian army — Chinese daily
It is reported that the upcoming US presidential election will have a major impact on the Ukrainian conflict
BEIJING, March 22. /TASS/. The European Union's direct support for Ukraine, in particular the mulled sending of French and Polish troops to the frontline, will not help Kiev to defeat the Russian army, the Chinese daily Global Times says with reference to the opinion of Chinese political analysts.
"Talking about sending European troops to fight Russians in Ukraine, Chinese experts said that reinforcements from countries like France and Poland can only help Ukraine to strengthen their defense line, but they are not capable of defeating Russian troops and taking back the lands they have lost," the daily says.
According to Cui Heng, a scholar from the Shanghai-based China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation, the upcoming US presidential election will have a major impact on the Ukrainian conflict. His colleague Song Luzheng, a Chinese scholar residing in France and research fellow at the China Institute of Fudan University, believes that "if the West and Ukraine fail to stop Russia from achieving more victories on the battlefield," they will likely have to "accept the reality."
"Launching a direct military intervention will escalate the crisis to a horrific level," he warned.
Chinese experts emphasize that sending European troops to Ukraine could significantly damage the authorities of the administrations of all major Western countries. In addition, it is noted that the leaders of these countries who strongly support sending aid at all costs to help Ukraine would have to take responsibility, as well as brace for the strengthening of opposition sentiments.
Earlier, a member of the Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada, Alexey Goncharenko (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist), said that the French authorities were considering sending a European military mission to the Ukrainian regions bordering Belarus. He speculated that Paris allegedly wants to create a coalition of allies, which would probably include Poland and the Baltic states.
