MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. At least 30% of Polish citizens do not think the North Atlantic Alliance would protect their country in the event of a military confrontation with Russia, according to a Pollster survey commissioned by the Super Express newspaper.

The survey showed that 30% of respondents answered in the negative to the relevant question, while 16% of those surveyed had no opinion on the matter. Some 54% of respondents expressed confidence that NATO would help Poland out in a potential war with Russia.

The survey among 1,070 adult residents of Poland was conducted on March 16-17.

A previous survey by the same pollster in late February showed that more than a half of Poles believe an armed conflict between NATO and Russia is within the realm of possibility and are scared of this. On February 5, Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz urged NATO allies to be ready for all scenarios as Russia presses on with its special military operation.

In an interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his assurances that Russia has "no interest in Poland, Latvia or anywhere else," as he described allegations of a Russian threat as fear mongering. As regards the scenario of sending troops to Poland, the Russian leader said that would only be possible if Poland attacked Russia first.
